I have a small number of Custom Made LEE Molds. These are 54 Caliber Christmas tree ringtail molds. I wanted one for myself so I ordered a batch so I can share with fellow shooters. The dimensions are within the pictures. They are around 490 grains (depending on the cast mix you use). They are same size as old Rapine molds. The 3 bullets (picture) are the ones I cast myself from this mold.The bullet that is known today as the "Sharps Christmas Tree" has three rings with diameters of, .52, .54, and .56 caliber. After the ACW many thousands of Sharps Carbines were converted to .50-70 cartridge models. The orders at the time were such that if the bore diameter was .520 or less don't sleeve them.

I have a 54 cal sharps in Model 74 32" barrel. Like Chris I tried the paper cartridge and got terrible accuracy. For your consideration one unlisted 0.54 caliber bullet.....a bullet with a long nose & the 3 rings are compressed towards the bullet's base. This bullet also has a slightly stepped cavity. I have a reproduction Sharps Berdan and it is 54 Cal. I have shot the same sized Lyman minis in it. I bought a Pedersoli Christmas Tree 54 bullet mold for it. My original 63 percussion Sharps is of course 52 like your friends Berdan. I am going to give the Pedersoli bullet a try. I guess I was thinking that the 54 cal would be to big.
